Blog 6- Cinderella- Sukhmeet Kaur

In the remake poem, Cinderella written by Anne Sexton, Sexton's remake is completley different than what the original Cinderella depicted. Sexton's massive use of similes and characterization gives this story/poem a different view. Throughout this story/poem, Sexton carries a mocking and sarcastic tone. The audience that Sexton reaches out to for this fairytale are not children but adults. Her vulgar, yet hilarious remake of Cinderella, is both hysterical and interesting. I would recommend this story/poem to adults who want to re-live Cinderella, but not for the moral but for reality :) Overall, its a great read.

  1. I do agree that Anne Sexton remake of Cinderella was completely for adults and not for children because of fact that story was more bloody and its retelling the Grimm's version and not the Disney one.
